All stations are equipped with an in-well seismometer, located at a depth of 75 m, and a surface accelerometer. The stations normally consist of the following elements:
- a wire mesh fence and access gate;
- a well, equipped with a surface access shaft, which houses the sensors;
- a cabinet containing electrical and electronic equipment;
- a photovoltaic panel for power supply.
Each station has a remote data transmission device and GPS antenna for precise time synchronisation. Power is supplied by a suitably sized stand-alone photovoltaic system. The cabinet houses the various equipment (seismological data acquisition, modem/router, power supply, battery, switches, etc.) and the remote transmission and positioning antennas.
According to international seismological standards, station sites are named with a 4-character code of the type OL##, where ## represents a two-digit number from 01 to 09. The network has been registered with code OL within the worldwide body that manages the information of digital seismic networks, the Federation of Digital Broad-Band Seismograph Networks (FDSN) which is part of the worldwide consortium Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology (IRIS), with which OGS is associated.
In the following, for each station (OL01-OL09), summary sheets containing information about the sites and the instrumentation installed are given.
